Giorgio Marturana

Born in Cagliari (ITALY) the 21st of October 1977, he discovers the world of photography at the end of 2002 during a trip to Berlin.

In 2003 he buys his first digital camera, a Minolta Dimage F100 (which he used until 2009) and starts to dedicate all his free time in reading books and specialized magazines.

At the beginning, while his digital camera is an inseparable friend, his production of pictures is pretty heterogeneous and quite a little aimed. He has no precise objectives, so he takes pictures of everything that captures his attention, trying to put into practice all the advices he reads in the books.

This apprenticeship is fundamental to understand when and why a pictures "works" and, most of all, to learn by his own experience. In this period he collects pictures of landscapes, sunsets and everything in general.

After the apprenticeship, his production aims at specific fields, particularly night photography (also if he still uses the Dimage F100), architecture (his passion) and particularly simple geometric shapes and colours.

All the pictures in this website, represent a synthesis of his experience during this 7 years and point out his "growth" and his research of new ways of "communication" with photography.

His main objective is to capture everything that is essential, trying to exclude all these elements that could deflect the attention or alter the purity of the images (also if they could be poor). His last shots emphasize this research (also if he's too far from his objective).

Firmly convinced that being a great photographer it's not necessary to have the best equipment, he's waiting anyway to buy a reflex to experiment all the techniques he learnt during all these years by self-taught.
